CHRONOLOGY OF CHARLIE THE PJ
Circa 1960-64 Tony Willis who nothing less than familial kinship to a eighteen inch high carved wooden South Sea demi-god of unbelievable proportions and ugliness procured the object. The thing was christened “Charlie” and immediately took on new dimensions within the Pararescue career field. He even began to receive better treatment and greater respect and Howard Hadley administered to Charlie an initial PJ Qualification check-ride accomplished with a solid Q-1, earning his jump wings, a parachute, diving mask, and fins.

24 July 2000 Retirees returned Charlie to the PJs at 23rd STS, Hurlburt Field, FL.
23 Sept 2000 Charlie was honored quest at the Joint Canadian/USAF Pararescue reunion in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, escorted by the 23rd STS PJs. After a small skirmish between Hurlburt Field, FL Alaska, and Pope AFB, NC PJs, Steve Billman and his team took Charlie to the 24th STS Pope AFB, NC, (See full story in Legend of Charlie the PJ).
